From Tradition to Business: My Journey with Donkey Oil at Lusanet Collective
Meet Alvart Aghajanian of Breez
I was born and raised in Iran, where traditional medicine played a significant role in healing and treating illnesses. Among the many remedies passed down through generations, donkey oil—the fat derived from donkeys—stood out as a miracle oil. It was widely used for treating wounds, burns, rashes, eczema, ulcers, and even soothing joint and muscle pain.
After the Iranian Revolution, I moved to the United States and built a career in public service. I worked for government agencies such as Child Support Services and, for the past decade, with the Department of Children and Family Services, where I have spent the last two years in a supervisory role. Helping people has always been at the core of who I am, and I’ve always believed in the power of natural medicine.
Yet, deep down, I had another dream—to own my own business and create something meaningful. As a single mother, my priority was to ensure financial stability for myself and my son. Now that he is grown, I finally had the opportunity to turn my vision into reality.
A few years ago, an acquaintance brought me donkey oil, reminding me of its rare yet powerful healing properties. This sparked an idea: why not reintroduce this ancient remedy to the world? I decided to build a brand that would not only provide Iranians with a familiar remedy but also introduce donkey oil to a wider audience.
With its natural collagen and skin-softening benefits, donkey oil is more than just a healing agent—it’s a skincare powerhouse. I began by incorporating it into healthcare products like soaps and lip balms, ensuring that people could experience its benefits in a modern, accessible way.
Looking ahead, I see endless possibilities. My goal is to expand my business and create an even wider range of natural health products. What started as a childhood memory has now become a mission—to blend tradition with innovation and bring the healing power of donkey oil to the world.
Since one of the co-founders of Lusanet Collective, Anet Abnous, was also born in Iran and is familiar with donkey oil, she was excited to welcome Alvart to the collective. Anet has personally used donkey oil in a few cases to stop bleeding and heal wounds, witnessing its remarkable healing properties firsthand. At this point, we carry face cream, lip balm, and soaps at the store. Stop by to give them a try!

-
Donkey Selection
-
No donkey is harmed in the process of making Breez products. Following tradition, we only use donkeys that have passed away from natural causes.
-
-
Extraction
-
Breez follows a meticulous, time-honored extraction process to ensure the purity of the oil. Our methods, passed down through generations, use gentle heat and natural techniques to preserve the beneficial compounds in the oil.
-
To maintain this authenticity, we avoid using synthetic chemicals or harsh additives. A small amount of vitamin E is added as a natural preservative to stabilize the oil.
