At Lusanet Collective, we are honored to share the story and artistry of a remarkable young talent from Armenia — Charles Sahakyan. At just 14 years old, Charles has already touched countless lives through his paintings, which carry a message far deeper than words could ever express.
Charles was diagnosed with autism at an early age and is non-verbal, yet he has discovered a powerful way to communicate with the world: through his art. Every brushstroke, every hue of color, and every detail in his paintings serves as his voice — a vibrant expression of feelings, dreams, and the inner world that words cannot capture. His canvases are alive with emotion, inviting viewers into a universe filled with hope, imagination, and resilience.
From Canvas to Wearable Art
Charles’ journey would not have been possible without the unwavering love and vision of his mother, Nané. Believing deeply in her son’s gift, she sought a way to share his creations beyond gallery walls. She began transforming his vibrant paintings into wearable art — luxurious scarves, decorative pillows, twillies, bracelets, and necklaces. Each piece allows admirers to carry a fragment of Charles’ colorful world with them, turning fashion into a canvas for his creativity.
But these works of art do more than delight the eye. Through the proceeds, Charles’ creations also support children with the same diagnosis, ensuring they receive free medical care. Every scarf or accessory not only spreads beauty but also serves as a contribution to a greater cause — reminding us of the impact that art, love, and community can have when combined.
A Young Artist with a Powerful Legacy
Despite his young age, Charles has already achieved what many artists spend a lifetime pursuing. At just 8 years old, he held his first solo exhibition, The World Through My Eyes, at Dallan Art Gallery. Nearly 200 of his works have since been showcased at the National Center of Aesthetics named after H. Igityan, followed by his third exhibition, Charles’ Colors, at the Mkhitar Sebastatsi Educational Complex. His paintings have been featured in numerous group shows, capturing attention for their originality and depth.
In 2019, Charles’ extraordinary talent was recognized on an international stage when he received the Grand Prize at the 9th Pan-Armenian Children’s and Youth Painting Competition-Festival My Saryan. This achievement further established him as a rising star in the world of contemporary Armenian art.
Art That Inspires a Community
Charles’ story is more than one of creativity — it is a story of perseverance, unconditional love, and the boundless potential of human expression. Through his art, he reminds us that words are not the only way to connect; the soul can shine brightly in colors, shapes, and forms.
We are proud to bring Charles’ work to Los Angeles through Lusanet Collective. His scarves and accessories not only embody artistry but also carry a powerful narrative — one that inspires, uplifts, and unites. Each piece is more than an accessory; it is a symbol of resilience, hope, and the transformative power of art.
